Custom Made Prosthetic Eyes

Crafting Your New Eye

Prosthetic restoration typically begins six weeks after the initial surgery, most patients are cleared to be fit with the Ocular Prosthesis associated with their surgery.

Initial Surgery

The two most common types of surgeries associated with Custom Made Prosthetic Eyes and Custom Scleral Shell Prosthetics are Enucleations and Eviscerations.

Prosthetic restoration typically begins six weeks after the initial surgery, most patients are cleared to be fit with the Ocular Prosthesis associated with their surgery.

Fitting Your Prosthetic Eye

The fitting begins with your Ocularist taking an impression mold of the anophthalmic/eviscerated socket. This is performed to ensure the prosthesis has optimal comfort, continuity and movement.

Creating Your Ocular Prosthesis

A combination of custom iris buttons, artistic hand painting and the use of digitally printed irises ensure quality craftsmanship of your ocular prosthesis. During the third and final step of the fitting of your ocular prosthesis, final adjustments or modifications can be made to ensure the best fit is achieved along with maximizing patient comfort, mobility and facial symmetry.

Same-Day Service

We pride ourselves on providing patients with same-day appointments. We believe the best result is achieved when the patient is able to leave our office wearing their new artificial eye the same day as their initial fitting. This also helps ensure proper protection for the patient’s socket and helping to restore a sense of normalcy and self-confidence by having the appearance of two natural eyes. Follow-up appointments are scheduled two to three months following the initial fitting appointment to address any physical changes within the orbit and any concerns the patient may be experiencing due to the changes in the anophthalmic/eviscerated socket as the socket continues to heal after surgery or revision.

Our dedication to a “medical team approach” among our board certified ocularist, your referring physician and medical staff ensures that you will receive the highest quality of care, each and every time.
